About Ayurveda

Ayurveda is the ancient Indian philosophy of health and wellbeing. It means the “art of living wisely. In simple terms, Ayurveda is a holistic system which guides us so that we can live a healthier and more balanced lifestyle. It recognizes that we are all unique and focuses on food, lifestyle, massage, yoga and herbal remedies to suit our individual make-up.

“It is called Ayurveda because it tells us which substances, qualities and actions are life enhancing, and which are not.”

Ayurveda is based on the foundation that the universe is made up of five basic elements of nature: i.e. air, fire, water, earth and ether.

These elements are represented in humans by three “doshas”, or energies: Vata, Pitta and Kapha. It is important to have the right and appropriate balance of these energies in ourselves. Each of us has a unique proportion of these three forces that shapes our nature (constitution). For each dosha there is a balanced and imbalanced expressionWhen any of the doshas accumulate in the body beyond the desirable limit, the body loses its balance. Every individual has balance of the three doshas (“tridoshas”). Ayurveda suggests specific lifestyle and nutritional guidelines to help individuals reduce the excess dosha.

Thus Ayurveda helps to restore the balance of the dosha instead of the individual via various therapies.. Thus unlike modern medicine which treats symptomatic conditions, “AYURVEDA” has a very unique, pure, natural and holistic approach to treating a humans. It ensures the total harmony and well being of an individual.”
